Barcelona to be priced out of Sterling deal

Barcelona could miss out on signing Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling due to his high price tag, Marca claims.

The Catalan giants attempted to land Sterling on loan over the summer, but the Cityzens turned down the approach.

They are prepared to come again with a fresh bid in January, but they are unlikely to afford a permanent deal.

The Blaugrana are facing restrictions from La Liga due to their excess wage bill, and can't spend over £20m on players.

Sterling will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January, but the Cityzens have no plans of accepting a cut-price sale.

The England international has seen reduced game time in the current year, but he is still in the prime of his playing career.

The club want at least £65m to sanction his mid-season exit. The asking price is expected to put the Blaugrana out of the race.

Real Madrid have also been linked with Sterling in the past, but they are now focused on finalising the free transfer of Kylian Mbappe.
