Predicted Manchester United line-up vs Liverpool

Manchester United host fierce rivals Liverpool in the Premier League this afternoon.

The Red Devils are winless in three league matches, but come off a brilliant 3-2 comeback win over Atalanta in the Champions League.

They are already eight points adrift of the top of the standings, and will need a strong performance to get the better of the Reds today.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Predicted Line-up:

David de Gea has been the undisputed choice in goal for the league game this term. He has been in outstanding form with multiple standout saves. The Spaniard is expected to start between the sticks.

No changes are expected in defence. Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are certainties in the full-back roles with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof featuring at the heart of the defence. Raphael Varane is still not fit after a groin injury.

There will be enforced change in the centre of the park with Fred ruled out with a hamstring injury. It should be a simple choice with Paul Pogba, who was on the bench in midweek, accompanying Scott McTominay in central midfield.

Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes were present in United's pre-match meeting at their team hotel, and it appears that they have overcome their respective injury concerns.

Rashford and Fernandes should start on the left-wing and number 10 roles respectively. Mason Greenwood seems a definite choice in the right-wing spot after bagging four goals in eight league games.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to lead the line on his own. The Portuguese grabbed the headlines in midweek by bagging the winning goal against Atalanta with a trademark header.

Predicted Manchester United line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; McTominay, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Ronaldo.
