Jorginho backs Manchester City star for Ballon d'Or
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has said that Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne would be his leading candidate for the Ballon d'Or.
The Belgian had an injury-plagued 2020/21 campaign for the Cityzens, but he was still named the PFA Player of the Year.
Speaking to ESPN, Jorginho has now praised the playmaker's consistency in recent years, and said that he would vote for him.
He said: "I believe I'd vote for Kevin De Bruyne for everything he's been doing and for the beautiful football he's been showing in recent years."
Jorginho has enjoyed a terrific transformation of his career since Thomas Tuchel took charge as the Blues manager in January.
He played a key role alongside N'Golo Kante in the centre of the park as the Blues won their second Champions League title.
The midfielder went on to win Euro 2020 with Italy. There have been calls from several sections that he should win the Ballon d'Or.
Paris Saint-Germain's Lionel Messi appears the favourite to win the accolade for a seventh time after Copa America glory with Argentina.
