Arsenal open to extending Alexandre Lacazette stay
Arsenal are open to renewing the contract of Alexandre Lacazette amid his impressive form this season, The Athletic reports.
The France international struggled for playing time at the start of the campaign, and he was an unused substitute on many occasions.
However, he transformed his fortunes in the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace last month, bagging a dramatic equaliser in the final seconds.
Lacazette has since been a regular starter for the north London giants. He has won two penalties in the last three Premier League matches.
According to The Athletic, the Gunners have not ruled out a new contract that could keep Lacazette beyond the current campaign.
They are unlikely to meet the striker's demands for a long-term deal, but are prepared to offer a short-term contract without a wage hike.
The Gunners are reportedly planning a move for a quality young striker, and Lacazette may struggle for regular game time next season.
At 30, the Frenchman may want to play regularly, and he could move on. He will enter the final six months of his deal in January.
