Barcelona CEO Ferran Reverter reportedly held talks for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani this week.

The Uruguayan has had limited game time with the Red Devils this term, and there has been speculation that he could leave in January.

With his contract expiring next summer, the Blaugrana are keen on signing him for a nominal fee, but United may not sanction his exit.

Cavani is currently nursing a tendon injury, but he could make his comeback soon. He will be offered the chance to impress Ralf Rangnick.

The German has agreed to take interim charge for the rest of the season, and he will be given the opportunity to make the best use of the squad.

Jesse Lingard has also been linked with a mid-season exit, but he could be allowed to run down his contract expiring next summer.

United have picked up just one win from the last eight league games. They are currently eighth on the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea.
