Predicted Chelsea line-up vs Manchester United

Chelsea entertain Manchester United in this evening's Premier League encounter at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are presently top of the league standings, but are just one point ahead of Liverpool.

They have the chance to extend their advantage with their game in hand against the Red Devils.

Predicted Line-up:

Edouard Mendy looks set to continue in goal for the west London giants. He has been in excellent form in the league with seven clean sheets. The backline could remain unchanged from recent games. Trevoh Chalobah, who bagged his maiden European goal in midweek, could partner Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger in central defence.

At right wing-back, Reece James is set to keep his place. He has been in exceptional form with 10 goal contributions in 14 games this term. At left wing-back, there should be an enforced change with Ben Chilwell out with a knee injury. Marcos Alonso appears in line to start.

In midfield, there could likewise be a change with N'Golo Kante nursing a knee injury. The Frenchman's absence could pave the way for Ruben Loftus-Cheek to make a rare league start. Jorginho is expected to take up the other spot in the centre of the park.

Further forward, Thomas Tuchel could be tempted to stick with the same attacking combination from midweek. Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi have made key goal contributions since the break, and they could slot into the attacking midfield roles.

Timo Werner could be a likely candidate to lead the line. Romelu Lukaku is fit after his ankle trouble, but Thomas Tuchel recently hinted that the Belgium international may not be fit to play the entire 90 minutes. He may start from the bench.

Predicted Chelsea line-up (3-4-2-1): Mendy; Chalobah, Silva, Rudiger; James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Alonso; Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi; Werner.
