Chelsea ready to hand new deal to goalkeeper

Edouard Mendy news

Mendy set for new Chelsea deal?

Chelsea are prepared to hand a new long-term deal to goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, according to Football Insider.

The Senegal international joined the Blues from Rennes last year, and he has since been a terrific performer for the club.

Mendy has kept a stunning 36 clean sheets from 63 games, and the hierarchy are now keen to reward him for his efforts.

He is currently one of the lowest earners at £60,000-a-week. His salary could be at least doubled with the proposed renewal.

Aside from Mendy, the Blues are also planning to hold talks with Reece James and Mason Mount over improved deals.

James has had a sensational campaign thus far with 10 goal contributions, operating from the right wing-back position.

On the contrary, Mount has had a mixed season, but he recently starred with a goal and an assist in the win at Watford.

The midfielder has struggled with fitness issues, but the board continue to regard him as a key player for the future.
