Manchester United star wants to join Barcelona

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani is keen on joining Barcelona during the upcoming transfer window.

The Uruguayan has struggled for game time since the surprise return of Cristiano Ronaldo over the summer.

He is keen on pursuing a new challenge, and Sport claims that he is determined to join Barcelona next month.

The Blaugrana are willing to hand him an 18-month contract, but only if they can land him on a free transfer.

Cavani's current deal expires in six months' time. He will hold talks with United over terminating his contract.

The 34-year-old has been identified as the Blaugrana's top target to bolster the centre-forward department.

He is currently on wages of £250,000-a-week, but has agreed to take an initial pay-cut if he joins the club.

The Catalan giants are expected to bring in three players next month. Ferran Torres has already passed a medical.

Aside from him, they are eyeing a new centre-forward and central defender.
