Newcastle table bid for Ibrahim Sangare
Newcastle United have made an approach to sign Ivory Coast international defensive midfielder Ibrahim Sangare from PSV Eindhoven. The 24-year-old, who joined PSV from Toulouse only last year, has caught the eye with some impressive performances in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Sangare has a contract until 2025 with his current club but is reportedly open to offers received from any top European clubs.
According to the Daily Mail, the Abidjan-born youngster is high on Eddie Howe's list of transfer targets with the club ready to spend 18 million euros to secure the player's coveted signature.
Sangare is comfortable playing as a holding midfielder, but is equally adept playing in the middle of the park. Described by many as a box-to-box midfielder, the 1.94m youngster has been one of PSV's stand out players in the last 18 months.
It is understood that Newcastle will beat several other sides to the signing of Sangare, including French side Monaco, German Bundesliga team Hertha Berlin and Premier League rivals Aston Villa.
Ibrahim is currently on international duty at the African Cup of Nations 2021 with the Ivory Coast.
