Arsenal decide on Bernd Leno's future
Arsenal have decided to keep goalkeeper Bernd Leno beyond the January transfer window, Sky Sport Germany reports.
The 29-year-old started the Premier League campaign as the first-choice goalkeeper, but he was displaced from his position by Aaron Ramsdale in September.
The England international has since established himself as an undisputed choice in goal. Leno has only played in the Cup competitions.
It was recently claimed that the German could push for a winter exit, but the Gunners have no plans of sanctioning his sale this month.
They have signed a new goalkeeper in Matt Turner from New England Revolution, but he will only join the club in the summer.
Leno will enter the final year of his contract in July. He is widely expected to leave the club by then with plenty of transfer interest.
Newcastle United were in the mix to sign him this month. The Magpies could be among favourites later this year if they avoid relegation.
