Cavani on his way to Corinthians?

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Corinthians at the end of the campaign.

The Uruguayan was keen on joining Boca Juniors last summer, but he was convinced to extend his United deal for another season.

Cavani was assured that he would be the main man up front, but the scenario completely changed with the shock return for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 34-year-old has received more game time since Ralf Rangnick took charge, but has no plans of continuing with the Red Devils next term.

A return to South America seems on the cards. Corinthians are now touted as favourites to land his signature on a free transfer agreement.

Cavani was absent for the Red Devils' FA Cup fourth round tie against Middlesbrough on Friday where they suffered a shock exit on penalties.

He was handed extra days off after his international commitments. He should return for the Premier League trip to Burnley on Tuesday night.
