Serie A giants plan fresh bid for Arsenal midfielder
Roma are planning a fresh move for Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka this summer, Gazzetta dello Sport claims.
The Switzerland international was touted to join the Serie A outfit last summer, and he had also agreed personal terms.
However, a deal did not materialise due to differences in the fee. Xhaka eventually extended his contract until June 2024.
The midfielder is currently a key part of Mikel Arteta's plans, but he is open to the prospect of a fresh challenge later this year.
Xhaka has spoken fondly about Jose Mourinho recently, and he would welcome the prospect of working under the Portuguese.
Mourinho is also keen on managing the 29-year-old, and has urged the club's hierarchy to prioritise a move for the Swiss.
Roma are likely to work with a €100m budget this summer. The Gunners could demand around €30m for Xhaka's services.
Meanwhile, Roma signed Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan from the Gunners last month. They could also look to sign him permanently.
