Chelsea ready new deal for Mason Mount

Chelsea are planning to negotiate a new long-term contract with Mason Mount, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.

The Blues graduate has been in sublime form this term, bagging seven goals and six assists from 21 league appearances.

He currently has a contract until June 2024, but the hierarchy are keen to open negotiations over a renewal at the earliest.

The Blues have seen Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger enter the last six months of their contracts.

They are keen to avoid another instance in future, and are willing to negotiate new deals for their prized assets by the summer.

Aside from Mount, the west London giants are also planning to hand an improved contract for fellow Blues graduate Reece James.

James has had a superb campaign from the right wing-back position, but has been out for the past two months with a hamstring injury.

He is likely to make his comeback soon, but Mount could be on the sidelines for a while after his ankle injury in the Club World Cup final.
