Morata wanted by Arsenal?

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in signing Alvaro Morata this summer, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Gunners were keen on pursuing a centre-forward in January, but they could not pursue their prime targets.

Hence, they decided against a purchase, but there could be plenty of movement at the end of the current campaign.

Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah have less than five months left on their deals, and are likely to leave.

The club could sign more than one striker this summer, but a move for Morata will come as a huge surprise.

The Spaniard had a tough stint at Chelsea previously, bagging only 24 goals from 72 appearances in all competitions.

He will turn 30 before the end of the year, and may not suit the Gunners' transfer policy over the past 12 months.

The club are focused on pursuing young players with experience. They are keen on building a team for the long-term.

Juventus have the option to buy Morata for 29 million pounds, but they are presently reluctant to meet the buy clause.

The Spaniard is currently in his second season on loan from La Liga champions Atletico Madrid.
