Manchester United keen on landing Portuguese midfielder?

Manchester United have their sights on landing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer.

The Red Devils are eyeing a new defensive midfielder, and they have been linked with the likes of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.

However, according to Portuguese outlet Jornal de Noticias, the club are also keeping tabs on Palhinha ahead of a possible summer move.

The Portuguese is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the Primeira Liga. He has earned 12 caps with the national team over the past year.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur during the last summer transfer window, but a deal never materialised.

Sporting could, however, sell him during the next transfer window. He has a €60m release clause, but could be available for €30m.

Aside from the Red Devils, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also in the mix to land the midfield enforcer.

Palhinha has been in superb form for Sporting this campaign. He has been a regular in the holding midfield role, registering 3.3 tackles per game.
