West Ham missed out on signing Luis Diaz
West Ham United were on the verge of signing Luis Diaz in January before Liverpool hijacked the deal.
The Colombian was heavily linked with a Premier League move last month, and Tottenham Hotspur were initially deemed favourites to sign him from Porto.
However, Diaz was not keen on joining them, and he eventually chose to agree terms with the Reds. He signed them for an initial £37.5m million fee.
Davis Moyes has now disclosed that he was in regular contact with Diaz over a January move, and the Hammers believed they could secure his services.
The east London outfit were on the cusp of sealing a deal, but it was not meant to be as Jurgen Klopp's side hijacked the move at the final hurdle.
Liverpool had initially planned to pursue Diaz in the summer, but they had to intensify their pursuit after learning of the interest from Spurs and Hammers.
Diaz has already made a positive impact for the Merseyside giants. He has netted just one goal, but has excelled with his link-up play in the final third.
