Liverpool keen on signing Uruguayan striker
Liverpool are reportedly interested in landing Benfica striker Darwin Nunez during this summer's transfer window.
The Uruguayan has had a terrific campaign with the Primeira Liga giants this term, bagging 23 goals across all competitions.
West Ham United attempted to sign him with a £40m bid last month, but Benfica made it clear that they did not want to sell.
However, their stance is likely to change during the summer, and Football Insider claims that Liverpool are leading the pursuit.
The Hammers were reportedly on the cusp of landing Luis Diaz from Porto before the Reds hijacked the deal from their grasp.
There could be another repeat this summer. The Hammers plan to return for Nunez, but they are likely to miss out once again.
Jurgen Klopp has identified Nunez as his prime striker target for the summer. Benfica are likely to demand around £55m.
Nunez could come in as a replacement for Roberto Firmino, who could be sold. He will enter the final year of his deal soon.
