Mikel Arteta updates on Alexandre Lacazette's contract situation

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the contract situation of Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman has less than four months left on his contract, but there have been no talks over a possible renewal.

Arteta has repeatedly said that negotiations will be delayed until the summer. He added something similar today.

Speaking in a press conference, Arteta said that the club need to resolve the contractual timing in the best way.

He said: "I think with Alex it’s very clear what he brings to the team. He’s shown it consistently since I’ve been here."

"What we have to resolve is the contractual timing, in the best possible way, and when we all align on the same page."

The Gunners are currently fourth in the league standings, one point ahead of Man United with three games in hand.

They face a tough challenge against Liverpool tomorrow. The Reds beat them by a 4-0 score in the reverse meeting.

The north London club are underdogs against the Reds, but have the chance to make a big statement with a victory.
