Arsenal open Saka contract talks

Arsenal have opened contract negotiations with Bukayo Saka, according to The Athletic.

The 20-year-old has had another fine campaign for the Gunners, bagging 10 goals and five assists from 33 appearances.

He has been instrumental in the club's push for the top four, and the hierarchy have now opened initial negotiations over an improved deal.

The board are optimistic over an extension beyond June 2024. The renewal may depend on several factors including Champions League football.

Saka has no plans of pursuing a fresh challenge elsewhere, but may need to be rewarded with a significant pay rise if the club make the top four.

He is currently one of the lowest earners at the club at £30,000-a-week. It is most likely that his weekly wages will be bumped to £100,000.

Aside from Saka, the Gunners are also planning talks with Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba, though the latter has yet to make his debut.

Saliba has been out with three loan clubs thus far, but manager Mikel Arteta plans to integrate him into the squad for the 2022/23 campaign.
