Arsenal make contact with agent of 16-goal striker

Arsenal have made contact with Lautaro Martinez's agent regarding a summer transfer from Inter Milan, Calciomercato reports.

The Gunners are likely to lose the services of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah when their contracts expires in June.

Hence, they could pursue more than one striker this summer. It appears that Martinez is one of their prime transfer targets.

The Gunners were linked with Martinez before the start of the season, but a deal never materialised beyond the initial interest.

Inter's decision to sell Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea meant that they had no plans of losing their other main striker in Martinez.

The Argentine only signed a new contract in October 2021, but it is reported that his future with the Nerazzurri is not so obvious.

Arsenal have already made initial contact with his agent. It is claimed that Inter could sell him for a fee of around £59 million.

Martinez has had a mixed campaign for Inter, but has still netted 16 goals.
