Manchester United are reportedly planning a £50 million bid for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The England star has endured an injury-plagued season with just 18 appearances, but he is still highly regarded.

United are one of the main admirers, and The Athletic claims that they are weighing up a £50m bid for his services.

However, the Red Devils have yet to make any contact with Leeds or the player's entourage at the current point of time.

United are set for a big summer rebuild, and a new defensive midfielder is expected to be one of the prime priorities.

West Ham United's Declan Rice has been linked with United in the past, but his £100m valuation may have put them off.

On the contrary, Phillips could be available for a much lesser sum, but it is unclear whether the midfielder will move on.

Phillips will enter the last two years of his Leeds deal this summer. He has not ruled out signing a new deal at his boyhood club.
