Luis Diaz was on Man Utd's radar in January
Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz was on his radar during the January transfer window.
The German was keen on bolstering the club's attack at the turn of the year, but the hierarchy refused to back him with transfer funds.
Rangnick has now acknowledged that the board were reluctant to spend. He further added that Diaz was one of the players on his wishlist.
He said: "There were a few: Díaz who is now at Liverpool, Álvarez who will be at Man City in the summer, Vlahovic, who at the time was with Fiorentina."
United's hierarchy have paid the price for the lack of investment, and they won't be playing Champions League football next season.
They are set for a squad rebuild under Erik ten Hag, but may struggle to lure some of their main transfer targets during the summer.
United are currently sixth in the standings with 58 points. They are set to secure their worst-ever points tally in a Premier League season.
