Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta plans to integrate William Saliba into his first-team plans for next season.

Saliba joined the Gunners from Saint-Etienne in the summer of 2019, but was loaned back to the club as part of the transfer agreement.

This has been followed by two other loan spells. He is currently concluding his season at Marseille, where he has made over 50 appearances.

Les Phoceens are looking at the prospect of keeping him permanently, but football.london claims that Arteta wants Saliba for next season.

The 21-year-old has yet to make a competitive appearance in the Gunners shirt, but will be handed the chance to breakthrough next campaign.

At present, Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes are undisputed centre-backs under Arteta. Saliba may struggle to displace them for the league games.

However, with the added exposure of European football, there will be some rotation, and this could help Saliba to prove himself to the manager.

Saliba will enter the final two years of his Gunners contract this summer.
