Manchester United star set for Roma medical
Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic is on the verge of joining Roma on a free transfer, Fabrizio Romano claims.
The Serbian confirmed that he would be leaving United in April this year. He will formally depart when his contract expires on June 30.
A number of Serie A clubs have been linked with him, but he has now chosen a reunion with manager Jose Mourinho at the Giallorossi.
Mourinho previously managed the Serbian at United and Chelsea, and the duo are now set to be reunited at the Europa Conference League champions.
Matic will undergo his medical tomorrow before signing a 12-month deal. The Giallorossi will have the option to extend for another season.
The move for Matic may effectively end Roma's long pursuit of Granit Xhaka. The Swiss was heavily linked with them last summer.
The club could not secure a deal with Arsenal back then. The midfielder could still leave with transfer interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
