Both Liverpool and West Ham have made transfer offers for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana, with the player ready to weigh up offers from both Premier League sides. It is understood that West Ham are ready to guarantee first-team football to Onana, whilst Liverpool see the player as a backup and hot prospect for the future.

With Liverpool having already signed Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho, funds are limited at Anfield, but Klopp has admitted he would like to sign another new player before the transfer window closes. Klopp told reporters last week: "I don’t think something will happen in midfield, but you never know."

If Liverpool can sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, a new midfielder could be brought in and Onana remains the top target.

However, West Ham are confident their most recent offer of 30 million euros will be enough to sway the Belgium international to move to London instead of Liverpool. Onana, who played 32 times for Lille last season scoring 1 goal, has four years remaining on his contract. Prior to moving to Ligue 1, the Belgian international played in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV and Hoffenheim.
