Kasper Schmeichel set for Nice move
In a surprise turn of events, Kasper Schmeichel is set for a transfer away from Leicester City. The Danish international goalkeeper will move to Nice in Ligue 1 after a successful spell with the Foxes that brought Premier League and FA Cup success.
With just a year remaining on his deal at the Foxes, the club have opted to allow the shotstopper to depart after a long spell that saw him play his first game in England in 2007. After a 15 year period of English football, Schmeichel has decided to find a new challenge in France.
Leicester City had offered Schmeichel a new contract, but Nice have offered considerably more money to bring in the keeper.
It is understood that Leicester will receive around 10 million euros for Schmeichel, which will be spent on finding a replacement. Reports yesterday suggested that Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno, who has been linked with a transfer to Fulham, is top of the list for manager Brendan Rodgers. The Gunners yesterday rejected a £10 million bid from Fulham for the German international.
