Newcastle United table bid for James Maddison
Newcastle have reportedly made a transfer window bid of £40 million to sign England international midfielder James Maddison. The Leicester City star, who had a sterling campaign last season and has been persistently linked with a move away from the Foxes, is apparently opent o offers of a transfer elsewhere.
The Daily Telegraph reports that a transfer bid for Maddison has already been rejected, and that Leicester are keen to keep hold of the player.
However, Maddison is the top target for numerous sides and Newcastle manager Eddie Howe admitted that his business in the market is not yet done, "I’ve been in the game long enough to probably not give you a definite answer on that, but, as the days, tick by it’s looking more and more unlikely. But, as I’ve said all window, we're trying. We’re desperate to try and improve the group if we can with the right player. No definite answer for you."
Maddison has scored 33 goals in 133 games for Leicester City since his arrival from Norwich City in 2018.
