Chelsea readying fresh transfer bid for Wesley Fofana
Chelsea are prepared to make a fresh transfer bid for Wesley Fofana after Leicester City turned down their opening proposal.
The Blues have already signed one central defender in Kalidou Koulibaly, but they are eyeing more reinforcements in the position.
Fofana recently emerged as a priority target, and the Blues are now in negotiations with the Foxes to persuade them into a deal.
Their opening bid of £60m was deemed insufficient, but they are willing to try again with a second offer of £70m, as per The Times.
Fofana has already agreed personal terms with the Blues, but the Frenchman is said to be reluctant to place a transfer request this summer.
The Foxes backed him when he was out with a serious leg break last year, and they ended up rewarding him with a five-year contract.
Hence, the onus is on Chelsea to make a more significant bid. The Foxes could sanction his sale for a package of around £80m.
