Cristiano Ronaldo set to start against Brighton?
Cristiano Ronaldo could be set to start for Manchester United when they begin their Premier League season against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Portugal international revealed his desire to leave the Red Devils at the beginning of July, and subsequently missed the pre-season tour due to family reasons.
Having returned to training last week, he made his comeback in a friendly against Rayo Vallecano. He is now on course to start the curtain-raiser this weekend.
Anthony Martial appeared certain to play as the main striker against the Seagulls, but the scenario has completely changed following his injury versus Atletico.
The France international sustained a minor hamstring issue during the friendly in Oslo, and he is now expected to miss at least two games for the Red Devils.
This should mean that Ronaldo will lead the line once again on Sunday. It remains to be seen whether he has the fitness to play 90 minutes, having just returned to training.
