Man Utd keen on landing Bundesliga goalkeeper
Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer as their new number two.
The Red Devils have started the campaign in disastrous fashion with successive losses. David de Gea has been partly responsible.
The Spaniard was poor with his decision-making versus Brighton, and he then produced a howler against Brentford in a shock 4-0 defeat.
This has led to suggestions that Erik ten Hag wants a strong competitor, and Blick report that talks are underway to sign Sommer from Gladbach.
The Switzerland international is said to be 'flattered' by the transfer interest from United, and would accept a reduced role in the first-team.
However, judging by how De Gea has started this term, he should definitely fancy his prospects of becoming the first-choice keeper at the club.
De Gea is not a modern goalkeeper and has been reluctant to make high claims. The Spaniard's distribution from the back has also been poor.
Sommer is a much better shot-stopper in both aspects. If he were to join the club, there is a high possibility that De Gea could be dropped from the XI.
