Anthony Gordon to Chelsea deal falls through

Everton rule out move away for Gordon

Everton coach Frank Lampard has effectively ended all talk of Anthony Gordon departing Goodison Park for a move to Chelsea, suggesting that the transfer deadline is now too close and the club have decided to keep Gordon. Chelsea have had a bid of £45 million rejected for the winger.

With two goals in two games, Gordon has emerged as a top talent for Everton, and Frank Lampard insists that the club want to keep the player.

When asked of Gordon would be leaving, Lampard said: "No. He's too important a player and I think he showed his worth in the last two games.

"And with two days now to go [until the window closes], what good would it do us to do anything with Anthony? On a bigger picture than that, he is our player who we've developed and there's an affiliation with him and the fans and vice-versa. "Clearly, the interest has been there because he is a top player. And that is why we're so keen to keep him."
