Edouard Mendy rejects new Chelsea contract

Mendy snubs new Chelsea deal

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has snubbed a new contract offer, according to reports from Evening Standard.

The Blues recently committed Reece James to a six-year deal, and are now prioritising new contracts for Mason Mount and Mendy.

While there is optimism that Mount will agree a contract renewal soon, the negotiations with Mendy are not moving ahead smoothly.

As per Evening Standard, Mendy has already snubbed an offer from Chelsea and believes he should earn close to back-up keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Kepa currently earns £190,000 a week in comparison to Mendy, who is one of the lowest earners at Chelsea at just £58,000-a-week.

Aside from Mendy, the west Londoners are also aiming to secure the long-term futures of midfield duo Jorginho and N'Golo Kante.

The duo have entered the final year of their respective deals and talks are yet to proceed over a new contract on improved weekly wages.

Chelsea are currently sixth in the league with 10 points on the board.
