Arsenal to make fresh January bid for Brazilian star
Arsenal will make a renewed approach to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz this winter, The Sun report.
The north London giants were eager to land the Brazil international on deadline day after injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.
However, Villa were adamant that he was not for sale. They turned down multiple bids from the Gunners with a maximum offer of £23 million.
According to The Sun, Mikel Arteta's side could return for the 24-year-old in January, considering his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
Villa have been unsuccessful in committing him to a new deal, and they are likely to sanction his sale rather than losing him for nothing next summer.
Arsenal would be willing to pay around £15m for Luiz, but it remains to be seen whether the midfielder is prepared to accept the Gunners' proposal.
Luiz is free to sign a pre-contract with a foreign club this winter. He could be tempted to run down his deal to secure a significant signing-on fee.
