Newcastle United pushing to sign Man Utd defender?
Newcastle United have an interest in signing Manchester United defender Luke Shaw next year, according to Football Insider.
Shaw has had a mixed start to the current campaign with the Red Devils. He has been in-and-out of the starting line-up.
As a result, he has struggled to find the consistency and there are now suggestions that he could head for the exit door.
Shaw's current deal with United expires in the summer of 2023, but the Red Devils have the option to keep him for 12 months.
The clause is expected to be triggered before January, but there is little to indicate that his contract could be renewed beyond.
The England international must impress manager Erik ten Hag over the entire season in order to be rewarded with a new deal.
Otherwise, he could be sold next summer. The Magpies are prepared to give him the chance to extend his Premier League career.
They see him as an upgrade on Dan Burn and Matt Targett.
