Man Utd pushing for James Maddison deal?

Manchester United are considered as potential candidates to land Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.

The England star has been the Foxes' bright spark this season with five goals and two assists from 10 matches.

Newcastle United reportedly failed with a summer approach to sign him, and they could now face competition.

The Magpies plan to return for the 25-year-old in January, but they won't be alone with United entering the pursuit.

According to Fichajes, manager Erik ten Hag wants another creative midfielder and Maddison is the top target.

Leicester are known to hold for significant price tags and they recently sold Wesley Fofana to Chelsea for £70 million.

They could hold out for a similar package for Maddison and it remains to be seen whether any club meets their valuation.

United obviously want to add more creativity, but may wait until the summer before spending big on new signings.

After coughing up over £220m on purchases last summer, the hierarchy have no plans to free up funds for the January window.
