Manchester United will reportedly need to pay around £10 million in order to get Cristiano Ronaldo off their books in January.

Ronaldo was eager to leave the Red Devils during the summer transfer window after citing his desire to play Champions League football.

However, there were no suitable offers for the Red Devils to consider while manager Erik ten Hag was also happy to keep the Portuguese with him.

Ronaldo has since struggled to make an impact on United's campaign. He has scored just one goal from open play over the past three months.

It is now reported that United are willing to release him in January, but Ronaldo may want to be compensated for the final six months of his deal.

The Portuguese currently earns a basic salary of around £20 million per year. If he were to leave in January, he cost ask for as much as £10 million.

As things stand, there are no clubs looking to sign Ronaldo.
