Chelsea to sign another central defender in January?
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez during the January transfer window.
The Blues strengthened their backline with Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella this summer, but it has not brought an improvement in their displays.
Ahead of the New Year, the hierarchy are willing to back manager Graham Potter with more signings and it is claimed that a new central defender could be targeted.
Gimenez has been long linked with a move to the Premier League and it is reported that Atletico could sell him for the right price in January after their Champions League failure.
The La Liga giants had a deficit of around €40 million last summer and the losses are bound to increase by another €30m after exiting at the Champions League group stage.
Atletico finished fourth in their group which means that they won't be playing any more European football this term. Chelsea could take advantage of their situation.
