RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku is open to joining Chelsea when the transfer window reopens this winter.

The Frenchman has been in scintillating form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, registering 17 goals and four assists from 23 games.

The Blues have already agreed personal terms with him over a future transfer, but it is unclear whether they can land him in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 24-year-old has opened the door for a mid-season move, but the final decision will be left to Leipzig.

Nkunku's €60m release clause does not become active until next summer. Chelsea will obviously need to pay more to sign him earlier.

The Blues desperately need attacking reinforcements in January following a dreadful start to the campaign. They are eighth in the league.

They brought in Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last summer, but both players have been out of form in recent weeks.

The World Cup break has come at the right time for Chelsea. Graham Potter will be hoping for a change in fortunes when the season restarts.
