Arsenal suffer fresh blow in signing Danilo
Arsenal have been handed a fresh blow in the pursuit of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo, according to ESPN.
The Gunners were interested in landing the Brazilian in the summer, but Palmeiras refused to sell him midway through their season.
They are prepared to try again in the New Year, but ESPN claim that Ajax and Monaco have also entered the pursuit of the 21-year-old.
Arsenal see the youngster as a potential back-up to Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian has been injury-prone for most of his Gunners career.
On the other hand, he could be a guaranteed starter at Ajax or Monaco. Arsenal now have a tough job on their hands of convincing him.
Danilo is said to be excited to play in Europe, but he may give preference to Ajax or Sevilla over the Gunners due to guaranteed playing time.
With the current form of Partey and Granit Xhaka, he would struggle to start in the league for the Gunners unless there is an injury setback.
