Edouard Mendy to leave Chelsea

Edouard Mendy news

Mendy to depart Chelsea in January?

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, currently on international duty at the World Cup with Senegal, will be allowed to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to numerous reports this weekend. The Blues' manager Graham Potter has so far preferred Kepa as his first choice, and Mendy will be allowed to depart for a rumoured £40 million transfer fee.

Since his arrival from Rennes in 2020, Mendy has played 74 times in the Premier League and been an important member of the club's first-team. But he has failed to secure the trust of Potter and will now likely leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are supposedly "open to offers" for the shot stopper, and confident that an agreement can be quickly reached with any potential suitors.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has been in good form for Chelsea and in the Premier League, bitter rivals Man Utd are said to be monitoring Mendy's transfer situation. With David De Gea possibly returning to Spain, Mendy would be an excellent replacement for the keeper.

Outside of England, it is understood that Bayern Munich are also interested in the Senegal international.
