Chelsea to sign Denzel Dumfries in January?
Chelsea are plotting an approach for Denzel Dumfries as they look to provide cover for Reece James in the right wing-back role.
James has been the Blues' stand-out performer over the past 18 months, but he has failed to stay injury-free due to the heavy workload.
The club want a strong competitor in the squad and Tuttomercatoweb claim that they are pushing to sign Dumfries from the Nerazzurri.
The Italian giants are eyeing a fee in the region of €60 million for the Netherlands international, but this has not deterred the Blues.
Aside from Chelsea, London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham have previously been credited with an interest in the former PSV Eindhoven captain.
However, the north London giants may not join the race this winter with their priorities lying on bolstering the central midfield department.
Dumfries is currently at the World Cup with the Dutch. His form has not been overly impressive, but he remains an assured starter for them.
