Chelsea want to beat Liverpool to Norwegian star

Chelsea are interested in signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge during the winter transfer window, according to Jeunes Footeux.

The Norwegian has been regularly linked with a Premier League move since the Blades' relegation to the Championship.

It is now reported that the 24-year-old could leave in January amidst interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

The Blues signed Denis Zakaria on loan from Juventus last summer, but he is out-of-favour under Graham Potter.

The London giants are exploring a new midfielder and Berge has emerged as an option with a price tag of €20 million.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are in a similar position. Arthur, who was signed on loan last summer, is out with an injury.

Berge has been a long-term target for the Reds and they could enter a bidding battle with the Blues for his services.

The Norwegian is widely expected to hand in a transfer request when the transfer window reopens in January 2023.

Chelsea are considered as front-runners to land him at the moment.
