Saliba close to new Arsenal deal

Arsenal have activated the option of an extension to William Saliba's contract until June 2024, and talks are progressing very well with the Frenchman with regards to a new contract. The Gunners have been in insatiable form this campaign, with Saliba being an important part of the starting XI and contributing to recent success for the North London outfit.

Since arriving at North London, Saliba spent some time out on loan but eventually returned and forced his way into Mikel Arteta's side. This season Saliba has been a rock at the heart of the Gunners' defence, and now is set to be rewarded with a fresh contract believed to be worth in the region of 220,000 euros a week.

The young centre-back was a member of France's World Cup 2022 squad, but wasn't on the pitch during the final in which his side lost to eventual winners Argentina. That being said, Saliba is considered the brightest young defender in all of Europe and Arsenal are keen to tie the player down to a fresh contract as soon as possible.
