Sofyan Amrabat wanted by Liverpool
Liverpool have been in contact with Serie A side Fiorentina regarding a move for 26-year-old midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made the Morocco international his primary transfer target for January, and is hopeful that a 25 million euro move can be completed before the end of the month.
An impressive World Cup campaign by the midfielder, which saw his country reach the semi-finals of the tournament in Qatar, caught the eye of many Premier League scouts. However, Liverpool are leading the race to sign the Netherlands born player, with a transfer fee seemingly already agreed with the Viola.
Amrabat began his career in the Netherlands playing for Eredivisie side Utrecht, before making the move to Feyenoord. In 2018, a move to Belgium and Club Brugge followed, and Fiorentina would later make a transfer complete in 2020.
The holding midfielder is seen by Klopp as cover for Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, both of whom returned from a busy World Cup and Klopp is looking to add competition to his squad with a new face.
A deal is possible towards the end of the transfer window, and alongside Liverpool both AC Milan and Chelsea are monitoring Amrabat's situation.
