World Cup winning midfielder Exequiel Palacios is a possible January transfer window target for Tottenham Hotspur, as Antonio Conte has deployed his scouts to monitor the Bayer Leverkusen versatile midfielder in action this month. Palacios appeared in three games during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Palacios' value has increased significantly after helping Argentina to win the World Cup, and the former River Plate holding midfielder could now be set for a mega money transfer move to England with Spurs.

The 24-year-old has appeared 23 times for his national side, and since moving to Leverkusen in 2020, has played 45 domestic games with a return of three goals. The player signed a 5 and a half year contract with the Bundesliga club in December 2019, and it is understood that the German team are demanding at least 25 million euros to sell the player.

Italian outfit Tuttosport last week linked Palacios with a transfer move to Serie A club Torino, and Spurs will be looking to hijack any deal for the player. It is understood that Conte sees Palacios as an immediate alternative to Oliver Skipp, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentacur. Bentacur is currently out through injury.
