Arsenal in last ditch attempt to sign Mudryk
Arsenal have reportedly matched Chelsea's £60 million offer for Mykhaylo Mudryk, and believe they have won the race to sign the highly rated Ukrainian international winger. Chelsea yesterday agreed a fee with Shakhtar Donetsk for the starlet, as Arsenal negotiated a price with Shakhtar for the player, but a last ditch effort has been made by the Gunners to sign Mudryk.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter wants to add Mudryk to his squad before the end of the January transfer window, as the Blues continue to struggle in the Premier League. Mudryk has made no secret of his ambition to move to England, with a series of posts praising Arsenal and the club manager Mikel Arteta.
However, Shakhtar director of football Darijo Srna has driven a hard bargain and has only accepted one offer for Mudryk, from Chelsea.
Late on Saturday night, Arsenal appear to have matched the same price being paid by Chelsea, of £60 million plus a further £20 million in add-ons depending on Mudryk's performances.
It is understood that Shakhtar will likely accept an offer from Arsenal, leaving it up to the player to decide where his next destination will be.
