Frank Lampard sacked by Everton
Former Chelsea and Derby County manager Frank Lampard has been sacked by Everton, after a disappointing run of results. The Toffees have been in dismal form of late, and with a Premier League game against Arsenal looming on the horizon, the Everton board have opted to remove Lampard from his role.
It appears that the defeat to fellow relegation candidates West Ham last weekend was the final straw for Lampard, whose side sat bottom of the Premier League table on points, alongside Southampton.
It was just one year ago that Lampard took over from former coach Rafa Benitez, and Lampard helped save Everton's top flight status as the club finished in 16th place.
"Frank and his team's commitment and dedication have been exemplary throughout their time at the club, but recent results and the current league position meant this difficult decision had to be taken," read a statement on Everton's offical website.
Lampard's coaching staff, which included former fellow England international Ashley Cole, have also all left Goodison Park.
