Arsenal ready to step up interest in Moises Caicedo
Arsenal are preparing a January approach for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to The Telegraph.
The north London giants currently have Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka as undisputed starters in midfield, but they lack sufficient cover.
Mohamed Elneny has been called up from the bench on occasions this term, but the Egypt international is currently on the sidelines with an injury.
As a result, they need to spend in the ongoing transfer window and reports claim that the club are optimistic of landing Caicedo from Brighton.
The Seagulls currently have a not-for-sale stance on the midfielder and it could take a staggering fee of around £100 million to prise him away.
Arsenal are unlikely to pay such a fee up front and they could instead propose staggered payments over a period of four to five seasons.
The Gunners won't be alone in the player's pursuit. Chelsea are also firm admirers and are expected to provide stiff competition for Caicedo.
