Chelsea ready to pay €130m to sign Enzo Fernandez

Chelsea are ready to pay €130 million to sign Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The Blues recently reopened talks with the Portuguese outfit for the 21-year-old and are now confident of securing an agreement.

The west London giants don't plan to trigger the €120m release clause in his deal, but are ready to pay €130m in six installments.

Benfica president Rui Costa has yet to respond to the transfer proposal, but it is widely expected that a deal will go through soon.

Chelsea will be hoping to finalise a deal within the next few hours such that the player can travel to London for a series of medical tests.

Fernandez has already agreed terms over a long-term deal. If the fee is agreed, his transfer to Stamford Bridge would be a formality.

The World Cup winner looks set to become the Blues' eighth signing of the January transfer window. The club are unlikely to sign anyone else.
