Graham Potter explains Reece James absence vs Southampton
Chelsea manager Graham Potter has clarified that Reece James was rested for the Premier League loss to Southampton.
The England international has been a key player for the Blues over the past four years, but has become injury-prone lately.
As a result, Potter has looked to be cautious with him and he was therefore rested for the 1-0 league defeat to the Saints.
James should return for the London derby against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend which is a must-win for Potter.
Potter is under immense pressure after a dreadful run of form. The Blues have won two of their last 14 matches.
The 47-year-old needs to return to winning ways against Spurs next weekend or else he could be sacked.
Chelsea are not looking at any managerial candidates at the moment, but Zinedine Zidane could be a target.
The Frenchman has announced his decision to return to management and could be tempted by Chelsea's project.
The Blues are currently languishing in the 10th spot in the Premier League table with just 31 points from 23 games.
